**Topics in Algebraic Geometry and Geometric Modeling: Workshop on Algebraic Geometry and Geometric Modeling, July 29-August 2, 2002, Vilnius University, Lithuania pdf free by Workshop on Algebraic Geometry and Geome, Rimvydas Krasauskas (ed.)**

Algebraic geometry and geometric modeling both deal with curves and surfaces generated by polynomial equations. Algebraic geometry investigates the theoretical properties of polynomial curves and surfaces; geometric modeling uses polynomial, piecewise pol...

**Introduction to Algebraic Geometry free pdf by Brendan Hassett**

There are many introductions to algebraic geometry focusing on similar topics to this one (varieties affine and projective). However this one is especially friendly to newcomers and is the only such book that I think is accessible to an average undergradu...

**Convex bodies and algebraic geometry: An introduction to the theory of toric varieties pdf free by Tadao Oda**

The theory of toric varieties (also called torus embeddings) describes a fascinating interplay between algebraic geometry and the geometry of convex figures in real affine spaces. This book is a unified up-to-date survey of the various results and interes...

**Algebraic Geometry: An Introduction free download by Daniel Perrin (auth.)**

Aimed primarily at graduate students and beginning researchers, this book provides an introduction to algebraic geometry that is particularly suitable for those with no previous contact with the subject and assumes only the standard background of undergra...

**Ideals, Varieties, and Algorithms: An Introduction to Computational Algebraic Geometry and Commutative Algebra download pdf by David A. Cox, John Little, Donal O’Shea**

This text covers topics in algebraic geometry and commutative algebra with a strong perspective toward practical and computational aspects. The first four chapters form the core of the book. A comprehensive chart in the Preface illustrates a variety of wa...

**Integrable Systems in the Realm of Algebraic Geometry download pdf by Pol Vanhaecke**

This book treats the general theory of Poisson structures and integrable systems on affine varieties in a systematic way. Special attention is drawn to algebraic completely integrable systems. Several integrable systems are constructed and studied in deta...

**Ideals, varieties, and algorithms: an introduction to computational algebraic geometry and commutative algebra free epub by David A. Cox, John Little, Donal O’Shea**

Algebraic Geometry is the study of systems of polynomial equations in one or more variables, asking such questions as: Does the system have finitely many solutions, and if so how can one find them? And if there are infinitely many solutions, how can they ...

**Superior Beings: If They Exist, How Would We Know? epub download by Steven J. Brams (auth.)**

The central question I pose in this book is: If there existed a supe rior being who possessed the supernatural qualities of omni science, omnipotence, immortality, and incomprehensibility, how would he/she act differently from us, and would these differ...

**Adaptive and Learning Systems: Theory and Applications pdf free by Kumpati S. Narendra, Anuradha M. Annaswamy (auth.), Kumpati S. Narendra (eds.)**

This volume offers a glimpse of the status of research in adaptive and learning systems in 1985. In recent years these areas have spawned a multiplicity of ideas so rapidly that the average research worker or practicing engineer is overwhelmed by the floo...

**Lie Groups and Algebras with Applications to Physics, Geometry, and Mechanics free epub by D. H. Sattinger, O. L. Weaver (auth.)**

This book is intended as an introductory text on the subject of Lie groups and algebras and their role in various fields of mathematics and physics. It is written by and for researchers who are primarily analysts or physicists, not algebraists or geometer...

**The Tender Ship: Governmental Management of Technological Change free download by Arthur M. Squires (auth.)**

Unsurprisingly, Arthur Squires presents us with a remarkable book. Unsurprisingly because this is a remarkable man - accomplished engineer, gifted musician, sensitive humanist, talented teacher, analytical observer, felicitous writer - altogether a man wi...

**Lecithin: Technological, Biological, and Therapeutic Aspects free pdf by G. B. Ansell (auth.), Israel Hanin, G. Brian Ansell (eds.)**

**Symplectic Geometry and Secondary Characteristic Classes free epub by Izu Vaisman (auth.)**

The present work grew out of a study of the Maslov class (e. g. (37]), which is a fundamental invariant in asymptotic analysis of partial differential equations of quantum physics. One of the many in terpretations of this class was given by F. Kamber and...

**Acousto-Ultrasonics: Theory and Application free pdf by Alex Vary (auth.), John C. Duke Jr. (eds.)**

Finding and slzmg cracks and other crack-like discontinuities has been the center of attention for scientists and engineers developing and using nondestructive evaluation (NDE) technology. However, with advanced mate rials being "engineered" and used in ...

Aimed primarily at graduate students and beginning researchers, this book provides an introduction to algebraic geometry that is particularly suitable for those with no previous contact with the subject and assumes only the standard background of undergraduate algebra. It is developed from a masters course given at the Université Paris-Sud, Orsay, and focusses on projective algebraic geometry over an algebraically closed base field.

The book starts with easily-formulated problems with non-trivial solutions – for example, Bézout’s theorem and the problem of rational curves – and uses these problems to introduce the fundamental tools of modern algebraic geometry: dimension; singularities; sheaves; varieties; and cohomology. The treatment uses as little commutative algebra as possible by quoting without proof (or proving only in special cases) theorems whose proof is not necessary in practice, the priority being to develop an understanding of the phenomena rather than a mastery of the technique. A range of exercises is provided for each topic discussed, and a selection of problems and exam papers are collected in an appendix to provide material for further study.
