📙 An Introduction to Special Functions by Carlo Viola (auth.) — free epub
The subjects treated in this book have been especially chosen to represent a bridge connecting the content of a first course on the elementary theory of analytic functions with a rigorous treatment of some of the most important special functions: the Euler gamma function, the Gauss hypergeometric function, and the Kummer confluent hypergeometric function. Such special functions are indispensable tools in "higher calculus" and are frequently encountered in almost all branches of pure and applied mathematics. The only knowledge assumed on the part of the reader is an understanding of basic concepts to the level of an elementary course covering the residue theorem, Cauchy's integral formula, the Taylor and Laurent series expansions, poles and essential singularities, branch points, etc. The book addresses the needs of advanced undergraduate and graduate students in mathematics or physics.

This is a unique book for studying special functions through zeta-functions. Many important formulas of special functions scattered throughout the literature are located in their proper positions and readers get enlightened access to them in this book. Th...
The set of lectures from the Summer School held in Leuven in 2002 provide an up-to-date account of recent developments in orthogonal polynomials and special functions, in particular for algorithms for computer algebra packages, 3nj-symbols in representati...
Special functions are pervasive in all fields of science and industry. The most well-known application areas are in physics, engineering, chemistry, computer science and statistics. Because of their importance, several books and websites (see for instance...
This sharply focused book treats the large class of hypergeometric functions used in the solution of differential equations and in physics. Although known from the time of Euler, these functions can now be understood for the first time in the context of h...
Translated by Richard Silverman. Famous Russian work covers basic theory of the more important special functions and their application to specific problems of physics and engineering. Most space devoted to application of cylinder functions and spherical h...

This book treats a new, far-from-fully-developed area of molecular biophysics-enzyme physics. An attempt is made to survey this field, but primary consideration is given tothreeprob lems under investigation in the Polymer Structure Labaratory of the Inst...
I try to leave out the parts that people skip. Elmore Leonard This book is all about writing: it is both a practical and a personal account. When you write a book like this you put yourself on the line: you run the risk of people reading what you have wri...
Since this book was first published, four years ago, there has been a considerable upsurge of interest in the field of both normal and abnormal voice production. Tangible evidence of this lies in the publication of the Journal of Voice in the United State...
This book is about the drugs used in the treatment and management of rheumatic disorders. The term 'therapeutics' used in the title is intended to mirror the relevance of drugs in the widest sense of the word. Thus, general principles underlying pharmaceu...

Michael Bowman's book forms a useful reference source for Health Service staff interested in the role of the professional nurse and the dis charge of professional accountability. I am delighted that this work competently deals with nursing's dilemmas abou...
This book presents recent advances on Kobayashi hyperbolicity in complex geometry, especially in connection with projective hypersurfaces. This is a very active field, not least because of the fascinating relations with complex algebraic and arithmetic ge...
